The name says it all. When it comes to WordPress themes, it really doesn’t get much simpler than Simplr, one of a number of excellent themes designed by Scott Allan Wallick of Plaintxt.org.
The front page of this WordPress template is elegant in its simplicity: it displays just a single post
Pros:
- Very clean, minimalist design
- Built-in options menu allows simple control over typography and layout
- Standards compliant
- Robust stylesheet and separate print stylesheet
- Widget ready
Cons:
- I’m not a big fan of the default typography settings, though these are easily changed via the WordPress options menu

Satorii is a single-column WordPress theme with a minimalist, elegant and clean style.
The theme is built on the back of the well-known Sandbox theme, the Yahoo User Interface CSS and jQuery javascript, which makes it easy to customise or add new features — some of them are automatic zebra tables and automatic FancyBox added to image links, plus a useful reply to comments effect.
Plus, it has everything that a complete WordPress should have: support for tags, galleries and captions, Gravatar, localization (so you can create your own translation editing just one file), an image template, and, of course, widgets.
Satorii has beautiful typography and an extremely well styled comments area. The theme is very flexible and would suit multiple purposes.

Manifest is a beautifully minimalist one-column weblog theme with elegant typography and nothing to distract from the main content, be that text, photos or video.
The theme has a simple horizontal navigation and absolutely no clutter or cruft to distract the eye. If you want your visitors to read your words, this is a theme that will help achieve that goal.
The main body text is justified, and the footer features elegant links to the site owner’s social media identities.
